How to sterilize pacifiers in BIBS Pacifier Box
BIBS Pacifier Box is a multiple-functional product, that not only can be used for storing pacifiers when you are on the go but also as a sterilizer box.Sterilize by scalding
You can sterilize both natural rubber latex and silicone pacifiers using boiling water in the pacifier box.
- Take out the insert and put the pacifier in the pacifier box.
- Pour boiling water over the pacifier, and make sure the nipple is submerged in the water.
- Let the pacifier soak for approx. 5 min.
- Pick it up and let it dry on a clean towel.
- If water remains in the nipple, simply just squeeze the nipple flat to press out the excess water
- Put the insert in after sterilization to preserve the pacifier box's form
Sterilize by microwave sterilization
We only recommend this method for silicone pacifiers - not pacifiers in natural rubber latex.
- Leave the insert in (or put it in immediately after sterilization to preserve the pacifier box’s form)
- Add two spoonsfulls of water to the pacifier box and place the pacifier in.
- Put the box in the microwave for approx. 60 seconds at max. 800W.
NB: Temperatures should not exceed 100°C. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Leave the box to cool off before removing the pacifier.
Use with caution! Children should never be near the product when it is used for sterilization!
Do not microwave sterilize latex pacifiers
We always recommend only sterilizing silicone pacifiers in the microwave - not pacifiers in natural rubber latex.
The reason for this is that latex will break down if the temperature exceeds 100°C. Even though silicone endures higher temperatures than latex, our general recommendations are that to use microwave sterilization you must check the manufacturer’s instructions about heat and watts, to make sure the temperature does not exceed 100°C.
Always remember to put the pacifiers in water in a sterilization box made for the purpose. Never place the pacifiers in the microwave without!

Latex Pacifiers
Before First Use
A one-time process before first use to remove any potential manufacturing residue.
Boil: Submerge pacifiers in a pot of boiling water for 5 minutes.
Dry: Carefully remove and place them on a clean towel to air dry completely. Once cooled, squeeze out any excess water from the nipple valve.
This method should be used for first time use only. In rare cases, latex may transfer onto the pacifier shield during the initial boiling process. This typically happens if too many pacifiers are boiled at once and rub against each other, or the side of the pot. To prevent this, we recommend always boiling pacifiers one at a time.
For ongoing care, we recommend sterilizing pacifiers regularly (once a day is a good rule of thumb). Keep in mind that over-sterilizing can potentially weaken materials, so it’s best to strike a balance between maintaining proper hygiene and preserving durability.
As your baby grows, you can consider transitioning to regular washing with warm water and gentle soap. After six months, as children’s immune systems become stronger, daily sterilization isn’t always necessary but remains a safe option for parents who want to ensure the highest levels of hygiene.
Regular Care
Step 1: Cleaning
Wash by hand with mild soap and warm water.
Step 2: Sterilizing
Scalding Method
1. Place pacifiers in a clean bowl and pour enough boiling water to cover them completely.
2. Let them soak for approximately 5 minutes.
3. Carefully remove the pacifiers and place them on a clean towel to air dry.
4. Squeeze out any excess water from the nipple valve.
Microwave sterilization is not suitable for natural rubber latex pacifiers, as latex degrades at lower temperatures than silicone.
Replacement
- Check pacifiers regularly and replace them every 4–6 weeks or at the first sign of damage.
- If the nipple becomes enlarged or sticky, it is time to replace it.
Safety and standards
Do Not Lengthen The Pacifier clip: Never extend the clip or attach it to cords, ribbons, laces, or loose parts of clothing.
Complies with the European Standard EN 1400+A2
